About Me
My name is Rachel McLellan, though most students know me as Ms. Rachel! I teach piano and voice lessons from my home studio in the Windsong neighbourhood of Airdrie, Alberta.
I believe music lessons should be a positive, engaging experience where students can grow in confidence, creativity, and skill. Each lesson is tailored to the individual student, combining solid musical foundations with their personal interests and goals. I am especially passionate about helping singers discover their unique voice and develop healthy, expressive singing habits.
Whether a student hopes to pursue music seriously or simply enjoy it as a lifelong hobby, my goal is to foster a lasting love of music that extends far beyond their lessons.
Alongside teaching, I am an active performer and Western classical soprano, performing both opera and concert repertoire.
I hold a Master of Music in Performance and Literature (Voice) from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with Distinction from the University of Alberta.
I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the Alberta Registered Music Teachers' Association (ARMTA), an affiliate of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations (CFMTA).
I teach voice students of all skill levels and beginner piano students (up to RCM Level 4), ages 5 and up. My studio is currently full, but I maintain a waiting list for prospective students. Thank you for your interest!
I would like to acknowledge that the land I live and teach on is part of the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and Ktunaxa people, as well as the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikuni, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, including Chiniki, Bearpaw, and Wesley First Nations. This area is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
